It had to happen one day

We are on vacation this week and next. The first part of the vacation is at home goofing around before we board the train for Tampa Monday. We have paddled boats in the park, I have been sunburned at a lake and now, the day has come. My daughter beat me in a game of bowling.

The only thing that made the swallowing of my pride easier was the look on her face. She was so excited. Not only did she score her personal high score, but she beat her brother (I seriously think that is what she was most excited about).

We then bowled a second game and the universe realigned. I beat them both and she lost to her older brother. He was happier with those results but she did not care. She was too busy basking in her glory from the previous game.

Dang it was hot today…

Yep, we hit 100 degrees today. Hot as all getout. We may have gone a couple of degrees higher, but does it really matter at this point? I think not. It’s hot as he!!

So how do you beat the heat? WATER! We started the day at Falls lake and then worked our way to the YMCA pool.

“Oh, the good ole hockey game, is the best game you can name”

Early this morning we headed to the rink. It was the last weekend and there were two hockey games. These kids are so passionate when they watch each other as well as when they play. You would have thought they were playing for the cup. The parents were clapping and cheering them on, but the kids were screaming…. “I’m open”, “Clear it!”, “We need somebody to play Center!”. Yep. When you talk to them on the street, most want to play center .. score the goals .. be the hero. When they are actually playing, they realize that this sport takes energy. Those kids were so gassed towards the end of the game that they would just clear it and take a breather until it came back. My son took his helmet off after the game and I could not help but laugh a little. Water was actually dripping off of his brow.

But, the game soon ended. The kids all said goodbye and talked about the next season coming up. Soon the only thing left was a puck on the floor and the line of people wanting to use the rink for a general skate.
