I need to be careful. Safety Days is tomorrow.
OK. We all need that occasional kick in the butt. I got mine on Tuesday night. Yes, I’m still thinking about the Ed Pierce workshop, Captivated by the Light. It was a big sales pitch, but it was pitching things I was interested in, so I did not mind. It was a good presentation with some great photography and I always enjoy great photography.
Summer is upon us which means I have more free time. Time I like to spend behind the camera doing shooting what I enjoy. That usually comes in the form of a project (which I have not decided on yet) and events for good causes. One such event that I shoot each year is called Safety Days. I shoot for the one in Sampson County. They bring in a few hundred kids from around the county and spend half a day with them discussing safety. Sure it has a farm theme. Heck, it is held on a working farm. The kids see tractors rolling by and trucks coming in and out all morning. It’s really kind of cool. The fire department shows up, the sheriff’s office, and lots of volunteers to cover other subject. They learn about blind points, household chemicals, lawn equipment, ATV’s, bicycle safety and lots more. It is really great and it costs the kids nothing! In fact, they walk away with tons of free stuff including a bicycle helmet and other safety items.
It’s a great feeling to see the kids having such fun while learning to be safer. This is one of the events I look forward to shooting each year. So tomorrow morning, I get to crawl out of bed at 6am, get my daughter up and head out for our drive. Then great breakfast. Then lots of learning. Then great lunch. Then a little more learning. Then back home to process pics.
Have a great day and take some pictures.
