The fun of being a boy in the summer
My cell phone has a GPS built into it. This morning we decided to try geocaching for the first time. While the GPS will show you where you are using google maps, it does not give you your coordinates. A GPS that does not give you coordinates? Somebody definitely dropped the ball there. There is other software out there that will and I downloaded a free one. Word to the wise, you get what you pay for. While this program would show me my coordinates, it kept trying to give me driving instructions based on the nearest street and it would not update on the fly. This sent us in the wrong direction many times. We did however see a five foot black snake. The kids wanted to chase it so they could pet it. I thought about it for a few milliseconds and then said no. We made our way down to the lake a few times. It was nice to see that the lake was full again. Each time we made it to the shore, we had to stop and throw rocks for a while. It’s a guy thing. Had there been a bridge, I’m sure we would have had to spit off of it as well.
After going in a complete circle and then figuring out where we were really supposed to go, we found the general area. Just as I was saying start searching, the boy yelled “I see it”.
We have found our first geocach. Sweet.
