Hanging with friends

This is a great group of people. They all do different things through the week. They all come from different backgrounds. They are all different ages. They all love photography. This is the Raleigh Flickr group. On any given weekend, you can find something to do that deals with photography. This past Friday afternoon an impromptu meeting happened at the JC Raulston Arboretum. There were about 12 people just strolling around, joking and taking photos. If you need inspiration to take your camera out and use it on a regular basis, this group is for you.

Up until now, all of my portrait work has been done outdoors using natural lighting with a minimal use of strobes. I have a look in mind for a standard indoor portrait and will start sessions in a few weeks. This is not intended to be a department store photo. It will not show you smiling ear to ear. It will show you. I will use one light with a reflector. The shot will be the upper body and possibly only the face. They will be both black and white and color depending on what works best for the subject. These portraits will not be printed at any less than 11×14 because they are designed to show the expression. I don’t think the photos can be justified with anything smaller. The first five sessions will include one free 11×14 and no sitting fee. Book now if you are interested.

I shot this last night. I plan to do more of this tonight and will open the studio to clients soon. I’ll update more soon.

p.s. Don’t forget to move your clocks forward tonight. If you don’t, you will not remember to nag me about it tomorrow, because I am really bad about changing my clocks. No kidding. I have two watches. Tomorrow I go back to my Daylight Savings Time watch.
