Look at things from a different angle.
I often get made fun of for using my DSLR and to take pictures from odd angles without looking. Well, truth be said, I was looking. Not with my viewfinder, but with my imagination. We all have it and should not be scared to use it. Sure, if you are shooting film, this method does not work. Film is just too dang expensive. But with digital, you get to see if it was interesting right there. This photo was shot while walking around the Old NC State Capital building in Raleigh. This public fountain looked decrepit. The green did not appear to be growth of any super small animals, yet was just the color of the basin. It was interesting enough on it’s own, but I saw it from this angle in my head and took a picture. I was pleased with the result. No flash.
Shot with Canon 5D, 28mm, f1.8 at 1/400th of a second.
